Perhaps for מעשׂיה, ma‛ăsēyāh, after the Greek Μαασαί, Maasaí, “the work of the Lord.” Compare Gray, Studies in Hebrew Proper Names, 293.
An ancestor of Asaph, the musician (1 Chronicles 6:40).
