Balak
From BibleEncyclopedia.Net
bā´lak (בּלק, bālāḳ, “devastator” or “one who lays waste,”"empty," or "spoiler"):
A son of Zippor, and king of the Moabites (Numbers 22:2, Numbers 22:4). Mentioned in connection with the story of Balaam/Balak (Numbers 22 through 24; compare Joshua 24:9; Judges 11:25; Micah 6:5; Revelation 2:14). He was the king of Moab who hired Balaam to pronounce a curse on the Israelites. From fear of the Israelites, who were encamped near the confines of his territory, he applied to Balaam (q.v.) to curse them; but in vain (Joshua 24:9).
