in-dīt´:

The King James Version Psalm 45:1, “My heart is inditing a good matter”; the Revised Version (British and American) “My heart overfloweth with a goodly matter,” is in harmony with רחשׁ, rāḥash, “to bubble up”; compare Septuagint ἐξηρεύξατο, exēreúxato, “to pour out.” “Indite” in English is becoming obsolete. It may mean “to dictate,” “to invite,” “to compose.” In the latter meaning it is used in the above passage.
