Jephunneh

jē̇-fun´e (יפנּה, yephunneh, meaning uncertain, probably "nimble, or a beholder"):

(1) The father of Caleb, who was Joshua's companion in exploring Canaan (Numbers 13:6; Numbers 14:6, Numbers 14:30, etc.), a Kenezite (Joshua 14:14).

According to Numbers 13:6, he was of the tribe of Judah; according to Numbers 32:12; Joshua 14:6, a Kenizzite; the Kenizzites were incorporated in Judah (compare 1 Chronicles 4:13-15).

(2) One of the descendants of Asher. He was the son of Jether, an Asherite (1 Chronicles 7:38).
