Gathering of God, a city in the extreme south of Judah, near to Idumaea (Jos_15:21), the birthplace of Benaiah, one of David's chief warriors (2Sa_23:20; 1Ch_11:22). It was called also Jekabzeel (Neh_11:25), after the Captivity.

kab´zḗ-el, kab´zēl (קבצאל, kabhce'ēl “(whom) God collects”):

One of the “uttermost cities” of Judah toward the border of Edom in the South (Negeb) (Jos_15:21). It was the native place of Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, one of David's mighty men (2Sa_23:20; 1Ch_11:22). “Jekabzeel and the villages thereof,” one of the places re-inhabited by the men of Judah (Neh_11:25), appears to be the same place. The site is unknown.
