Adorned by YHWH, the father of Pekah, who conspired successfully against Pekahiah (2 Kings 15:25, 2 Kings 15:27, 2 Kings 15:30, 2 Kings 15:32, 2 Kings 15:37; Isaiah 7:1, Isaiah 7:4, Isaiah 7:5, Isaiah 7:9; Isaiah 8:6).

rem-a-lī´a (רמליהוּ, remalyāhū, “whom YHWH has adorned”):

The father of Pekah (2Ki_15:25 ff; Isa_7:4 ff; Isa_8:6). The contemptuous allusion to Pekah as “the son of Remaliah” in Isa_7:4 (similarly “the son of Kish,” 1Sa_10:11) may be a slur on Remaliah's humble origin.
